Considering a working vacation in Scotland

I have never been to Scotland, but always been intrigued with her. It would be me, my wife, and our 9 year old daughter going. We're Canadian and currently considering Edinburgh to stay in. I need a strong Internet connection for my work.

I am curious if anyone has suggestions on what the best rental place would be for us, what the best flights in would be, and in general considerations we need to know as we plan our travel.

What are the top 5 things you would say to the question: "I wish I knew this before going to Scotland"? =-)
