Moving to Cape Town, study and work

Hi. My husband and I have fallen in love with Cape Town over the years and we are planning to go there next year. However there are some questions that we have in mind.

1. If my husband goes there to study a postgraduate and gets his visa through a student visa, will I be allowed (as a Dependant) to work?

2. We live in Latin America and we don't have a bug income. We were wondering how much do rents cost monthly in Cape Town. We're basically looking for a small apartment, nothing fancy. We don't live elegantly here and don't expect to anywhere. A one bedroom, one bathroom, small place, probably in a not so bad area so that we feel safe. We don't need commodities, just a strong roof over our heads.

3. How does the South African Government feel about ex-pats who have children there. We've been married for a few years, but we might want to start having children in the next few years.

4. Is it hard for an expat to find work in Cape Town? Would it be easier in Johannesburg?

Thank you so very much for taking the time to answer these questions.
