Drilling a water well

Hi I'm hoping to move to Spain full time shortly. I have a property in the Almeria province but the nearest town water supply is about half a mile away. Although it is possible to bring town water to my property I would like to look at the option of drilling my own water well. Has anyone already done this? or, can anyone offer any advice at all on the rules and regs etc for doing it, or, does anyone know of a company / contractor who can provide an estimate for this service.
