Moving to Barcelona-a bit worried!

i everybody,

My name is Zoe and I am 24. I have just finished a job contract in London and have decided to take advantage of that by taking some time away and trying living abroad for a while. I am going with a friend to Barcelona who is planning on teaching English (TEFL). However, I have less of a plan. I am happy to work anything-bar work, restaurants, tour guiding, anything at all as I am not looking to further my career in Barcelona, but just to live there for 3-4 months, maybe a bit more or a bit less, and just learn Spanish, meet people and enjoy the city.

I just need a bit of reassurance that this is possible. I am reading some negative advice about english people living there which claims it is very expensive there and nearly impossible to get work. I am happy to take a bit of a risk and see what happens, but I am a bit worried to go out there and spend all my savings on rent, just to return after a couple of months having not really been able to make it happen out there.

If anyone has any advice (or reassurance) I would greatly appreciate it.

Is it possible just to find work without fluent spanish (yet!), earn enough to get by and just enjoy yourself in barcelona?

many thanks,
Zoe
