Hi there I’m just after some advice on how to use a medication prescription in Spain. I have a medication that I use daily and rather than tackle international travel with supplies I attended a doctor in Spain and have a local prescription for 2 boxes of my medication which came in the form of an A4 page with details filled in up the top half and nothing written on the bottom half of the page. I attended a Farmacia and was given 2 boxes of my medication and was given the prescription back intact. There was no mention of a repeat and the farmacist did not write or stamp or do anything to the prescription to indicate it had been used. My medication is now in need of refill so I took the same prescription to a Farmacia but they only had 1 box in stock so she gave me 1 box only but cut the bottom half of the prescription off which was an A4 page, she kept the bottom half that had nothing written on it and gave me back the top half with the writing on it but again no marking or stamp or alteration to indicate the dispense. As she gave me 1 box but the script is for 2 what do I do? What is the significance if any of cutting the bottom off and where is the record that the medication has been dispensed? Can I use the prescription again or do I need to go back to the doctor? I have a letter from my Dr at home and a copy of my usual prescription so it’s no problem to go back to the Dr but if it’s money that I don’t need to spend on another doctors appointment then that is more money to spend on my travels. Thanks in advance for any advice you can give:)
