Hello everyone here (4 persons in total as I can see...)
Me and my wife are leaving Romania where I stayed for 8 months to Kandy in Sri Lanka.
I lived in SL 10 years ago, and we have now decided that the red tape of SL is less troublesome then that of Romania.
My views on Romania and its climate for foreign investors can later be read in the Romanian part of this site.
We will be bringing our dog and cat down there, via a huge case for the dog (a x-breed between Collie and German, she takes up space) and a smaller variant for our cat.
The preparations We've done is most probably in adequate so if anyone has any experiance of this kind of "luggage" we would happily listen to you.
Will post a little diary and if possible some pictures along the road.
Departure is set to the 19th of october, starting with a traintrip to Istanbul and from there we'll fly via Dubai to Colombo. The reason to go with train to Istanbul comes from the fact that the air carrier cannot issue a export permission for the dog to the final destination if we dont go on a direct route with the same air company.
They will issue one for Turkey and we will have to get another from Turkey to Sri Lanka. The time needed at each place is long (about 5 hours at each stop), why we reasoned we would need to stay pretty long with the animals caged alone for many hours. Going by train leaves us the exit of Turkey only, which is a far better option.
Did I mention that the change of vehicle to Istanbul saved us 500 Euro? In echange for a more effective planning. The world is full of wonders.
If my thinking and planning is right we will see, and learn.
