swiss view of foreigners

My boyfriend and I may be potentially moving from Canada to Switzerland through his job. I have heard from other expats that the Swiss people are not very accepting of foreigners no matter how hard you try to integrate in their society. I grew up in Europe and he is also of European origin(EU passport through his Spanish parents)

Can any expats share their experiences please?

We found this sort of disturbing since we have been wanting to move to Europe for many years now and we never thought we hear comments like this from Switzerland.
