Moving to Switzerland

I am in need of advice from anyone regarding moving to Switzerland. My son and I do not know where to start as to what we should do first, I will need to sell my flat, but then we will both need jobs and somewhere to rent, so I didn't want the worry of being out of work, at the moment we are still considering locations as I had decided on Zurich but my son is interested in somewhere nearer Interlaken, but it all comes down to work.
Also any advice on how when and where we apply for residency permits and which ones
