employment in Zurich

I am considering moving to Zurich in January 2009 and am seeking employment in any area of work. I am a british qualified nurse in mental health, learning disabilities and general nursing. Can I use these qualifications to work in Zurich and what are the conditions of employment there. I also worked in the RAF as a propulsion technician in the past and would consider returning to engineering as a means of employment. My girlfriend lives and works in Zurich and I will be staying with her but would like to work. I also have excellent communication skills as I have also worked in UK as a counsellor and currently work alongside the police as an assessor of people in custody. Any site links or information would be most gratefully recieved.
