study, jobs?

hi caught,
i have a few questions about possibly living in thailand but i think i may be coming from quite a different age range and experience than many of the people posting here... so i hope you can still help.
im interested in moving to thailand indefinitely with hopes of studying in a monistary for a while, and after finding pretty much any type of work. i know studying buddhisim is pretty easy for forigeners, and it seems to me that Chanig Mai would be a good place to do it, would you reccomend any other places? I would like to stay out of big cities, and i dont want to be in bangkok for any extended period of time. im also curious about how difficult it may be for me to find a job since i dont yet have b.a. . ive done over 2 years of college level study, but havn't finished. is it easy enough to find a job as a forigener if im not picky. im just interested in making enough to get by for now. if i remember correctly i should be able to get by on very little money... seeing that my standards are pretty low. i can only guess in u.s. dollars, but do you think a person can live over there on around $3-400/month?
im also curious if forigeners are able to buy land?
thanks for any advice (and appoligies to all for my terrible spelling).
renee
