local Hospital Medical Coverage In Chiang Mai Thailand

I am now looking for info about purchasing local hospital medical coverage. I'm not sure my VA medical will help me there
because from what I am reading, since I do not have a documented service disability it might not help me.

From what I have read...local hospital coverage plans are cheaper then those expat insurance company plans.
Can anybody help me with what that costs? I have VA medical here in FL, however am not sure I can get medical
over seas without having a service related injury or retirement. It looks that way.
