Areas to live in in Hua hin and Chang Mai

As a newbie, we have no ideas about what areas are good, if'y or what ever.
We are quiet people and wantvto live in quieter areas, away from bars, night life etc, but near amenities and transport.
Any guidance on areas and pros and cons would be great appreciated.

Im also trying to find out living costs so we can budget for that too.
