marrying someone in the netherlands

Hi,
I'm in an odd situation and I'm getting very confused by other posts so Im wondering if anyone could please help me out. I am a Canadian citizen that will be getting married to someone currently living in the Netherlands. He is there on a student visa right now and Im just curious as to how this will work out. How do I go about moving there? Do I require a visa or do I apply for permanent residence? How long does something like this typically take to be approved? When can I apply? Do I have to wait until after I am married to apply? There are so many questions. I am planning on finding work there as well&but my first concern is on how to get myself over there =)

Thanks in advance for everone's help
Amms
