Moving to Trinidad 2013

I am seriously considering a move to TT from Canada in July of 2013. Will not be transferring with a job but I'm educated , have a broad skill set and am hopeful that something will come up quickly. Have some funds to tie me over but am wondering about safe areas to live and costs.
Moving with no kids and have been to the island many times so am aware of what it's like as a non-tourist. Any ideas, thoughts, advice would be appreciated.
