Moving from US to Northern Cyprus

I am from the US and considering accepting a position at a university in Northern Cyprus. My major concern is bringing my pet cats with me. Has anyone had or know of experiences on importing your pets into N. Cyprus. Any comments from people who live or have lived in this region would be helpful regarding any subject.
