Hi,
I am hoping to move to Kampala in September with my wife and two young sons (1&4). I have lots of questions, but thought I would split them up so they aren't too overwhelming.
1) After my eldest son contracted Meningitis over Christmas it is very important to us to find out about the hospital facilities in Kampala. We will have the best medical insurance we can get, but how do the hospitals compare to western ones?
2) How does Malaria effect Kampala? I guess we have to sleep with nets, but is it a large concern or mild? I understand that Kampala is quite high, and that this should reduce Malaria rates.
3) My understanding is that the water is not suitable for drinking (at least by us weak stomached westerners!). How do people deal with this on a long term basis? How do you bathe your children?
4) What other aspects of health should I be aware of?
Thank you all for your information, I'm really looking forward to heading your way.
Sincerely,
Tiest Vilee
