My wife and I went to immigration office here in nikolaev today to apply for my temporary resident permit. All of our documents were in order. A month ago we paid a bribe so as to not need to go Moldova and get visa (b). The woman looked our our documents and said all was ok. Then she gave us an account number to the bank to go and pay the few for application. Two ours later she called and said now that we would have to wait a month until kiev sent the new quotas out. Why didn't she say this while we were there? I think she realized I was american and that I already had to pay many bribes at hospital in order to get all the documents that day instead of waiting a week. Now after two hours of thinking about it, she realized it could be a big payday for her and she called us with this made up hurdle in order to see if she can get Benjamin Franklin involved.
You guys here in ukraine who have been through this process already, please advise.
