Hi Guys! Did you miss me? I have been in my little corner of Paradise (Idaho) for the last six weeks. I got my youngest daughter graduated from university and married off and well on her way to a new career and a new life. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a double major in Psychology and Exercise Science. She is working now in a program for troubled boys. She and her husband will go to South Korea in January for a year to teach English. I got my 2 vehicles out of storage, registered, repaired and reconditioned for another summer of fishing (that cost me more in one month than I spent for the last 5 months I was in Odessa.) The fishing has not been great, but I keep trying.
I know many of you have complained about life in the US, but I have no complaints here. This town has a population of about 25,000 with another 18,000 university students that go to BYU-Idaho. The people are warm, friendly and helpful. These are the kind of people who, as my Dad said, "Never met a stranger". The air is clean and the climate is warm and sunny. I took a long walk this morning through my neighborhood and marveled at the nice, well-maintained houses with neat, clean yards, the clean streets and the overall air of peace and prosperity. The only complaint I have is the cost of living in the US. It seems I saved a lot of money living in Odessa for 8 months, and I will spend most of it to live in the US for 4 months.
Don't get me wrong...I will be back in Odessa on Sept. 4. I have a lot of friends there and I keep in touch with many of them through regular chats on Viber and Skype. But until the end of summer, I will continue to hit the rivers and lakes hard and get my fill of the Beauty of Nature and the thrill of anticipation, hoping that the next fish will be a Monster worth bragging about. Best wishes to you all!
