Moving to Odessa

My girlfriend and I have been dating now for nearly 3 years and I have visited her in Mykolayiv, where she lives, on many occasions. She has a young son who the father will not give permission to leave the country. I have the opportunity to rent out my house here in the UK which would cover all my domestic obligations. I am well aware that the cost of living in Ukraine is around 1/3 of what it is here and I have enough of a pension that I could start drawing down and live comfortably enough for the next 20 years. What I am wondering is where anyone with experience could recommend living in the Odessa area, as I don’t think I could see myself living in Mykolayiv. And how to overcome the potential problem of overstaying my 180 day annual permission. I am also interested to know what the expat community is like in Odessa.
