I am American and my husband is in the process of bidding on a contract with a company to do military stuff over there for the UAE. The company (should they win the contract) said we would live in Abu Dhabi and he would work at Zayed Military City. They said just this week it's about 40 minutes away from Abu Dhabi. I've read they are building new residences out there - where ever that is. By the way, Where is Zayed Military City? I assume we would live in AD and he would drive.
We can't seem to find any maps with this place on there. In fact, there are few maps of UAE on the internet. They are all almost the same. It seems like Abu Dhabi stops at the bridge. What happens after the bridge, what is out there. How far is the airport. How long does it take to drive to Dubai? Oh how I would love to buy a weekend home in Dubai.
ExpatMich, I do have specific questions for you. I've done my research and the school you teach at would be where I'd want to send my kids. My oldest will turn 4 in January - and we'd be arriving most likely after the new year. And I read that he could attend Kindergarten II. Is it required to attend kindergarten? I don't now if I'd make the deadline in time to apply for this fall though. In Kentucky, kindergarten is required at aged 5 - just a question. For my younger son who will be one tomorrow, I'll want to know about nurseries/day care. Oh, one more question, what languages do they teach at the school?
I don't know if I want to work yet. I won't have to.
