I will be relocating to Dubai at the beginning of August. At this time, I do not have a job, as I believe it would be too difficult to apply from the U.S. Upon arrival, I will be living temporarily with a friend until I am able to find proper employment. I am giving myself 5 months to get it all together and settle in on my own. Here are my questions:
1. Do you feel that 5 months to find a job in Dubai is realistic?
2. Will I have a problem in Dubai being an African American? I have been reading quite a bit about the racism directed towards immigrants from India, Philippines, and Sri Lanka. Should I be worried?
3. I have an MBA from a reputable American university in Hospitality Administration and Marketing but unfortunately, I have no practical experience (changing careers at 36 years old). Would employees still be interested in hiring me or are they looking primarily for employees with major experience? And will I be offered only lower level jobs since I am black.
4. Where should I start when attempting to secure employment at a hotel?
5. Are the recruitment agencies there reputable? Could you please recommend a few?
6. What should I ask for (i.e. salary, accommodations, car allowance, medical/dental insurance, annual airfare, etc& is there anything else that I am missing that I should as for) as a single woman with no children?
7. Since I am traveling without a job, do I still need to apply for a visit?
