Is a business visit to Sharjah safe for American business woman?

Hi,

I'm an American business consultant and know absolutely nothing about the UAE. I've also never been in an Islamic country. I have just been contacted by a company in Sharjah about some work that would require me to visit the companiy in Sharjah for 1 - 2 weeks. I would very much appreciate opinions to the following questions:

- Is it safe for Americans to travel to the UAE (terrorism etc.)?
- Are there any restrictions placed on women in the UAE? Are there any problems to expect for women in a business environment (negative attitudes by men etc.)?
