Kiwi/Aussie Structural Engineers

Any kiwi or aussie structural engineers that are currently working in UAE that are able give me some advice about best way to find a job.
I am a current MIPENZ member and CPEng & IntPE are also current I also have experience working in England and with British codes will that help.
Is age an issue that last time is was there I had no responses to job applications but was politely told that they dont like to employ those over 40?? Gee and Im only just 40 at that.
