Looking for Direct Marketing position in Dubai

Hi,

I have been in dubai for a few months now and have been finding it quite difficult to land that first job here. I am using recruitment agencies and online job sites like Bayt.com. I have also tried cold applications to major companies but to no avail.
I am yet to get myself into a relevant event, for networking with the right people.
I would like to know how others have gone about their search for
work here in Dubai. how long did it take you to land that first job?
