I will be moving to Abu Dhabi this December. I am an American engineer and will be working on Yas Island. I have been able to find lots of information about UAE on the web (it's amazing all that you can learn on the net), however I had a couple questions if anyone would be available to provide insight...
1. It's difficult to find websites about finding apartments. I'm looking for a one bedroom between 2500-4000AED/month fairly close to Yas Island. Does anybody know any good websites, realitors or friends that might be able to help?
2. Social scene. Does anybody know of any websites or community orgainizations for social scenes. I won't know anyone upon arrival, and I'm wondering if there are orgainizations that bring fellow expats together (similiar to this website). Maybe there is a community center in the area where one can find postings for local expat events?
3. Lastly, I was curious to know if I am working on Yas island, would it be advised that I don't live on the other side of AD due to traffic? If I was only wanting about a 20-30min commute to work; is that possible? Would I want to plan on getting taxis to work each day or would you recommend a car?
