Right of Abode questions

My wife's parents were both born in England, they married in the US and then had a family. My wife is a US citizen. We were informed by the British Consulate that she did in fact have 'Right of Abode'. She sent the paperwork application and the directions are vague. It says in one area, that "I am in the country when I sign this document". QUESTION: Does she have to travel to England and complete and submit the paperwork in the UK? Are we misreading something. We have all the documention (parents birth certs, marriage cert, declaration, her birth cert etc.) I was under the impression we could fill the docs out here and submit the proper paperwork and she would be issued what? A british passport, or perm visa etc. Then I would apply for a spousal visa so that I may work and live in the UK. Can anyone give me some pointers. Feel free to also email: [email protected]
BONUS QUESTION: Assuming all of our paperwork is in order - how long should it take for my wife to receive 'Right of Abode' so that we may travel. it's June 22nd '03 and we need to be there by July 28. Is this a reasonable time table? Thanks a ton... Jake
