Help, re:debts

Hi, I am returning to the UK after 5 years overseas, a quick question if anyone knows? When I originally left the uk I had a visa bill of 2,000 & a personal loan outstanding of 6,000.

I know it was wrong, but, after maturing I wanted to know if i would still be liable for those debts, and would i have to clar them?

Any info is appreciated
