Retirement year in UK

20 years ago
I am hoping to spend about one year in the UK (preferably Gloucestershire) for the first year of my retirement. I have a book to write and some paintings to do. I need any advice from anyone on how I do this as a retiree. I have comfortable, but not lavish income. I am single (One cat) don't need fancy. Just some peace and quiet.
