Cost of London Living vs. NYC

Hello everybody,

I am considering a move to London. I was wondering how difficult it is for 2 people to live in London on about £45,000 total. We currently live in NYC on $80,000, pay CHEAP rent ($950), and can't imagine living on $45,000 in NYC . I'm not asking about conversions, since I'll be earning £. I've read several posts about how people live in London on low salaries - but how?? I would love to discuss specifics with Londoners who do it, especially someone from NYC but not necessary. Thanks - I need as much insight as I can get to make my decision.
