Born in UK, US citizen, moving back to UK

Help! I've been searching all over the web and can't seem to get a straight answer, need some advice desperately! I was born in the UK but am currently a citizen of the US. I do not have dual-citizenship, I hold an American passport. I am planning to return to the UK and marry a UK citizen. What is entailed in terms of naturalization/dual-citizenship?? Ideally, I would like to hold both passports but I don't know if this is possible. I have read that if I apply for citizenship anywhere outside of the US, I forfeit my US citizenship. I also read something about reclaiming my British citizenship but I assume this again forfeits my US citizenship.

Help! I just need to know what my options are.
