Well, I have already tried to post this, so I am sorry if it posts twice.
I am a British citizen living and working as an artist in the US. In order to keep my options open and to make it more financially viable when I return home, I have just started exhibiting and selling my paintings in the UK. However, I was really hit hard with duties recently and wonder if there is anything I can do to avoid these in light of the fact that I will no doubt be paying National Insurance and tax on my sales in the UK. Also, the paintings are on consignment and don't always necessarily sell.
Any help advice on this matter would be gratefully received! Thanks.
