HSMP visa

I've been interesting in moving to the UK, and after some investing, found out that I qualify for an HSMP visa. This is through an immigration agency called Global Visas in the UK. They require me to pay a fee up front, and then they will assist with the rest of the application process. Is this the standard practice? The fee is pretty pricey, and I'm curious if I will have better luck doing it on my own? Should I be wary of immigration scams?
