Voluntary move from the US to the UK

Hi all,

I'm new to the forum and have read quite a few of the posts, but am not finding guidance on a fair package for a voluntary move from the U.S. to the U.K. Most important thing here is I am not on the ex-pat package as I am requesting the transfer.

i.e., I currently work for a US-based firm in New York, and am requesting a transfer to its U.K. based subsidiary in London (the transfer is not initiated by the Firm). I would very greatly appreciate any advice/opinions on the package I have been offered. Does this offer afford me a comparable standard of living? I do pretty well on what I currently make in New York.

Again, please keep in mind that I am not going on an ex-pat package as I have requested this transfer, but instead am being offered "assistance", so my move does not penalize me.

U.S. salary:
Base: 114,500 dollars
Bonus: Discretionary at end of year, last year was 70,000 dollars

U.K. package offer:
Base: 72,000 pounds
Bonus: Disc. end of year
One-time relocation bonus: 16000 pounds
One-year E&Y assistance with tax advice and preparation in the U.S. and U.K.
Coverage of moving costs (i.e., flight, shipping, etc.)
One home-finding trip to the U.K.

In NY, I live in Manhattan and have a pretty comfortable lifestyle. I would aim to live in Central London, and live a comparable lifestyle. Just not sure if this would cover it. Also, I am single, in my mid-20s.

If I missed advice on this anywhere on the forum, I would greatly appreciate your help in finding it. Otherwise, would love some advice!

Thank you, and happy new year all!
