Dear all,
First, just wanted to say that this is a very informative forum. Thank you to those of you who post advice here regularly.
I currently live and work in Los Angeles. I am being offered a position with a competing company and the job is based in London. I am single.
I currently make $120,000 with an approx 15% annual bonus.
They are offering 95,000 GBP, a $15,000 USD signing bonus and approx 15% annual bonus (in GBP).
In addition to taking care of the VISA, the top-line relocation allowance (although I have not yet received all of the details) includes:
- relocation consultant services/assistance w/move, helping to secure a London flat lease, setting up utilities, etc.
- settling allowance (to include the shipping of belongings) of $13,000
- car disposal allowance $5,000
- Tax preparation
- Biz class relocation flight
- 1 biz class return flight per year
- house hunting trip (they mentioned they would be open to 30 days living expenses upon arrival in the UK but that it's more likely I will want to find a flat on one of my business trips over - while waiting in LA for the visa to come through).
I place a personal value on the opportunity to move and work in the UK as I have been keen to do so for some time. I've done a lot of homework on what my monthly household budget would look like. I'm feeling like I'm going to fall somewhere between breaking even and taking a pay cut.
I'm not sure if this is enough for you to go on, but I'm looking for your opinon on whether this seems like a fair deal?
Many thanks for your help.
