US to Liverpool

Greetings. First Post. Looks like a great forum.

I'm contemplating a move to Liverpool, for a ~3 year business project. I have 2 kids ages 3 and 7, a wife and a 10 year old dog.

Possible jumping off point is approx 6 months out. My work will be primarily near Stanley Park with trips to London occasionally.

I've been reading some great tips on negotiating compensation, so while it is of great concern, what I'm looking for now is neighborhood information.

I grew up in the sticks, midwest US. I now live in a suburban neighborhood in FL. I can live anywhere. I am interested in hearing whether living near Stanley Park is safe for families, or recoomendations for living within 30 minutes commute.

Ideally, we'd have a home with room for guests & a walled yard for the dog.

I plan to embark on a "look around" trip in the next 2 months - and would love to have some ideas of what to look at/what to avoid.
