What do kids do in the Summer?

My wife and daughter are joining me in London at the end of the US school year (late May/Early June).

I understand kids in the London stay in school through July, is that true? If so, how much longer do they stay in school?

Do kids have summer camps or other events that they engage in?

How do working parent cope during the summer months?
