Advice on potential NY/London 2yr assignment

Dear all,

I have been following this forum for the past couple of months since the opportunity to take an international assignment. Now I am at the critical juncture of having to make that final decision on whether to take the opportunity or not.

We are a family of three, my son is about 2yrs. I am being offered an opportunity to move to London on a 2yr assignment with my present firm.

I currently make about $130K with approx 20% annual bonus. Here is their offer. The salary remains the same with a $15K signing bonus, and 10K annual premium to equalize net income based on UK tax rate.

- relocation services
- taking care of work visas ( spouse included)
- shipping/storage - 20K
- tax preparation
- temp housing for up to 30days
- tax equalization
- house hunting trip
- 1 biz class return flight per year
- Pay car lease cancellation fees ( both cars are leased ~15K )

Now I am not too pleased about the salary situation, especially since the salary remains in USD, but I place a lot of personal value in the opportunity to work overseas as well as the opportunity for the family to experience a different perspective of life.
There are no concessions for COLA, housing or child care being offered. My question is will this work for a family of 3 in London? Based on my own research and household budget Im just about break even and possibly even at a bit of a loss.

Any additional insight is greatly appreciated.

Thanks much
