I have been living in the UK now for about 16 months and am now trying to figure out how to approach paying my taxes back in the United States and the relationship my US taxes have on how much PAYE tax I should be paying in the UK.
To give a little background. Both my wife and I are very rare expats as a US company did not send us over for a certain amount of time. We are here permanently - I am a US citizen on a 60 month work permit working for a registered Charity in London. My wife is a German National with a US Greencard who worked for 8 months of fiscal year 2007 in the United States before joining me over here in August. She immediately began work with a separate registered Charity over here in London.
I have read a few posts on this site over the last month looking for help but the unfortunate situation is that no posts help as my wife and I don't work for big money firms that can help us with our situation. My own research into finding an accountant to deal with this issue has not gone well so what I am looking for is a recommendation as I am quickly running out of time to file my US taxes.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
