Phone, Internet, TV Hookups

I am a US Dept. of Defense high school teacher and I've been transferred from Würzburg, Germany to Menwith Hill School, near Harrogate, Yorkshire.

We are trying to get some recommendations for: home phone, cell phone, Internet and HD TV access.

I know that Sky and Virgin Media are 2 big players and BT has phone and other services. They all appear to have package deals that boggle the mind. Any thoughts on this?

My wife and I will be arriving mid-June and moving into our long term rental (hopefully a flat or apartment in downtown Harrogate) by mid-September.
