Dual Citizenship. HELP!!!!!

I was born in the UK in 1975. My Dad is British. My Mother was born in the US on a US Navy base to an American sailor and British Mother but raiised in the UK.She has a NI number My parents were not married.I have tons of mail from my real Dad through this last December. I noticed in another thread it says that anymore born before 1983 in the UK can walk into the nearest US embassy and apply for a passport.Is that true? Also, my Mother has a national insurance number but an american passport. Could she take her National Insurance card into the US embassy and receive a British passport. please email me at [email protected]. This response would change my life as I would really like to live in the UK.
