expat contract on a work permit

I am in UK on a work permit contract. I have been in UK for 4 years now and would have to stay for another one year to obtain ILR. (It seems it was sufficient to stay for 4 years to obtain ILR previously)

My company wants to send me to work in India and is willing to provide an expat contract (for 2 years or more), if possible.

I am not sure will UK laws allow me to go out of UK for company business purposes and still conserve my work permit.

I am interested to accept the posting in India but i don't want to lose my advantages and benefits of staying in the UK especially becasue i have to stay just one more year to obtain an ILR.

Could somebody please help me/suggest me some solutions on how can i approach this?
