Places you would suggest in Central London?

Hi there- I will be living in Scotland ( not by choice). But, I would like to maintain a second home in central london to get away from the boredom in Scotland:( I am a New Yorker and am stuck in Scotland.

Which places would you recommend in Central london, where I can have a place for let's say about 800 quid or less (cheaper the better), but representable. Will be using it primarily on weekends. Are there any other alternatives to my situation? I welcome any thoughts.
