The Road to Citizenship...

...is long in the UK. After many years we received our Italian citizenship and have the luxury of no longer dealing with the Home Office. Complaints in this forum about it taking 6 years will fall on deaf ears when considering what it takes to become an American citizen (nod to all those readers who are not American).

This picture will show that non-US citizens take 11-20 years to gain lawful US citizenship. Even if you're related to someone in the US it can take 6-28 years to complete this journey.

At times, it's important to have a comparison when you're heads down with the Home Office. In this comparison, they're not that bad.

Good luck in your challenge to live and work in the UK.
