Moving to UK - A few questions

My wife, our 18 month son and I will be relocating to the London area in November. My wife is from the UK, and her family lives in Romford, Essex. My office is located in Weybridge / Addlestone. One of the main reason I took this new job was to be closer to her family. We would also like to be close to them so they could help with taking care of our boy (Babysitting, pickup from daycare, etc..) So now we are in the process of trying to locate some areas to live in. We are looking to pay around 1200ppm for rent and are trying to narrow locations down that are close to the M25 and trains. Would like to keep commute to family 20 mins or less, but also try to minimize my commute. Any suggestions?

I have been looking into banks and would like to open an account in the UK and US with the same bank, to have the ability to manage the accounts in one place, as well as move money between them easily and fee free (or low fees). Any suggestions on this as well?
