Moving to the UK to be with my partner..need help with my work search

I am an American citizen who is planning on moving to the UK…the Wellingborough area in April. I am moving to the UK to live with my partner of the last four years. We have tried to live here in America but because of the laws in America it makes it almost impossible.
We are currently working on the application for her to sponsor me but we are also looking into trying to find an employer to sponsor me. I understand that the UK has strict work policies for non UK residents and am looking for any assistance that anyone currently in the UK can offer me that could either connect me with companies willing to sponsor an American or any input from Americans who have found employment and how they did it.
I have an extensive sales and marketing background and have two college degrees. Any input would be more than appreciate. I understand that the job market is just as tough as it is here in California so any and everything anyone can assist me with is greatly useful.
