moving in April, searching for nursery schools

Hello,
My husband got a job in Bristol and we are moving there with our 3 year old soon. My husband is going later this month and my daughter and I will join him probably early in May. We are waiting so our things can arrive and hopefully my husband will have found an flat/house/something buy then.
I am doing lots of research online to try to help him, and I understand that it is important to live close to school I would like my daughter to go to.
Since she turns four in late September, she will only start Reception in 2014, right? But I still have to apply this year, I suppose. So I understand we need to move close to school this year. Please, correct me if I am wrong.
But I don't want my daughter waiting for school until next year, and I understand that right now she could go to a nursery school with 15 hours free per week. How does it work with nurseries? Is it like Primary schools? Do I have to live close to the one I would like her to attend? Do I have to submit an application form until an specif date? Is it hard to find a place for her?
Thanks very much for any help. I know it is going to be a huge change for everyone, but I we can understand what is happening. She is only three and I would like to make things as smooth for her as I can.
By the way, my husband I and I are Brazilians. We have been living in the US for over 7 years now, and my daughter was born there. Right now we are spending time with our family in Brazil until things are ready for us to go to Bristol. Lots of change for a little one...
Thank you again!
