Main residence abroad (I am a uk citizen)

Hello Everyone
I am a UK citizen (family of 5) who currently have a holiday home in the UK with occupancy restrictions - it cannot be our main residence/11 months occupancy allowed. So we are in a dilemma where to have our main residence - we do not have one at the moment and need to sort this fast. We realise this is an unusual situation as most people would have the holiday home abroad and main residence in their country of citizenship. So what options do we have? We have our own online company with a digital product that can be run from anywhere with wifi so I guess we would qualify as digital nomads? We like the idea of spending time abroad but wanted to get an idea of what options are available to us. I guess the problem we have is to convince authorities in UK that the holiday home we have in the UK is not being used as a main residence, However what are the issues with having a main residence aboard and a UK registered business? If we spend more time at the overseas property can I still run the business from the UK? Would we have to be registered as a resident abroad for the property we rent or buy abroad to be accepted as a main residence? Anyone else in this situation? We are a bit clueless and it would help to have some pointers to get us going in the right direction. Also if we have a property abroad that is our main residence would we still be able to rent it out for part of the year and not lose the main residence status?
