Hello folks,
I was born and raised in Canada, but my maternal grandparents were both from Kent (the Garden of England, so I’m told) and emigrated to Canada in the early 1920s.
I will be retiring in 2031 which will undoubtedly come faster than I can imagine right now. I’m an only child and share a home with my 91-year-old Mom. My husband of almost 30 years passed away 4 months ago, so I will be on my own when my Mom passes. Once I retire, I will be looking for a big life change.
My family history is calling to me and a move to the UK is an exciting thought.
I’d be looking to find a lovely area with some proximity to a city for an occasional outing. I’m hoping to find a little village/town/hamlet where I can indulge my creativity, enjoy some peace and relaxation and hopefully become part of a welcoming community that can help this ex-pat find a new sense of home.
My more immediate plan is to come for a visit before I retire and check out various locations.
Any suggestions on places to put on that list?
Thanks so much in advance!
Melody
