Eating in Buenos Aires

I do have a question about traveling to Buenos Aires from Montevideo. Let's assume that I am down in Uruguay and I have the proper residency paperwork filled out. Let's also assume I have the proper visa for Argentina. Now I discover there are no Indian restaurants in Montevideo but plenty in Buenos Aires. I decide to go to eat at one. When I think about it, things can get quite complicated. For instance:

What is the distance between the 2 cities and how long does it take to drive there?

If I have a valid Uruguay license, will it be valid for driving in Buenos Aires?

If I take a cab there, will I have to switch to a Buenos Aires cab at the border?

What about currency? How do I convert Uruguay currency to Argentina currency? Or would I need to use credit cards, to make things easier?

Things can get rather complicated quickly. Can anyone shed some light here? Also, has any personally visited Buenos Aires? If so, what is your impression, as compared to Montevideo?
