Greetings to all!
Seeking advice on renting a car while in UY. We do want to explore different areas at a comfortable pace so we're thinking a rental car is needed unless there are other options. I noticed the hotels don't all offer parking and for the ones that do there is sometimes only a limited amount of spaces available.
Would be interested in hearing from folks who have had good or bad experiences with the different car rental companies to see if any are superior to the rest or if they're all pretty much the same?
Should we rent directly from the airport and drive to the hotel or take a taxi/shuttle and secure the car rental from an alternate location? Not sure if that makes a difference but just throwing it out there.
Also wondering if GPS is needed and what the current gas prices are in UY?
I checked out a few of the companies renting cars and it looks like the majority of what they offer are sub and compact cars which can sometimes be a tight fit. Lastly, I know that in some destinations thieves are easily able to identify rental cars and that makes them and the occupants potential targets for crime so I'm wondering if that is the case in UY?
Thanks for your help.
